In our Euro 2020 predictions today, our betting tip experts are going to be looking at who they think will come out on top in this mammoth clash between two European giants. Will Italy make it 32 matches unbeaten? Will Belgium go one better than they did in 2016? Read on to find out what we think will be the case!
Belgium want to go one better than last time
The last time Belgium reached this stage of the European Championships in 2016, they crashed out following a shock defeat to Wales. They’ll be wanting to forget about the past and go one better this time around and reach the semi-finals.
Belgium have been in great form in Euro 2020 so far. After storming through their group with 3 wins, they swept Portugal aside in a 1-0 win last Sunday thanks to a brilliant Thorgan Hazard goal.
The Red Devils have conceded just once so far in the tournament, and have scored 8 times. Lukaku is their top scorer with 3 goals, whilst Thorgan Hazard has 2.
Italy are favourites to win Euro 2020
Italy have been outstanding recently. They’ve gone 31 games unbeaten so far, and conceded just 1 goal in their last 11 games! The last time Italy even suffered a loss was way back in 2018. They’ve lost just twice since Mancini took over, and are favourites to go all the way and win the whole tournament.
Last time out, Italy left it late to beat Austria in their last-16 tie at Wembley. They scored twice in extra time to win the game 2-1, thanks to goals from Chiesa and Pessina.
They’ve conceded once and scored 9 so far, with Immoble, Pessina, and Locatelli all tied on 2 goals each.
It’s been a pretty one sided affair between the sides since they first met way back in 1913. Their first match ended in a 1-0 Italy win, which set the tone for the next 108 years.
In 23 matches, Italy have come out on top 14 times, whilst Belgium have only been victorious 4 times.
The last time the sides met was in the group stages of Euro 2016 in France, in a match that ended in a 2-0 win to the Azzurri. The match prior to that was an international friendly in 2015, which Belgium won comfortably 3-1.
The last draw between the sides came in 1996.

Our Betting Tip for Today
Having analysed the stats, as well as the history between the sides, we’re now ready to give you our Euro 2020 predictions.
We’re going to be backing Italy to win this tie, but with both teams to score.
Italy to progress to the semi-finals
It’s really difficult to look past Italy to win this tie, especially considering their current fantastic run of form. The Azzurri are solid at the back and are very dangerous going forwards, as proven by the fact that they’ve scored 2 or more goals against 3 of their last 4 opponents. Italy are a force to be reckoned with in this tournament. The history between the sides will also be very encouraging for the Italians.
The Red Devils are a team that is packed with star quality. Players like Lukaku, De Bruyne, and the Hazard brothers will try their best to cause issues for the Italians, and that’s why we’re tipping both teams to score.
Ultimately, however, we’re going to be backing Italy to come out of this tie victorious and progress to the semi-finals at Wembley, where they’ll meet either Spain or Switzerland.
Unibet have Italy to win, both teams to score at 9/2.
