For our Premier League predictions today, we’re focussing on the clash in the midlands, where Aston Villa host Arsenal at Villa Park. Ahead of Villa’s clash with the Hammers on Wednesday, just one place separates these sides. Our Premier League tips, betting info and predictions follow on below.
Either side of their mini Covid crisis, which saw two Premier League games postponed and an FA Cup tie against Liverpool played by the kids, Villa have been slightly inconsistent. We say inconsistent, but only by the high standards they have set for themselves in a season where they have defied Premier League predictions. They saw off an injury hit Southampton with a 1-0 win at the weekend, but lost 3-2 to Burnley in a game they had been dominating in the first half through Ole Watkins and Jack Graelish last week.
Arsenal lost 2-1 to Wolves on Tuesday night – a loss that would’ve been routine for the Gunners back in November. However the reality here was that Arsenal were extremely unlucky. The North London outfit dominated Wolves for most of the first half, and were leading thanks to Nicolas Pepe, but it could’ve been three or four. Towards the end of the first half, David Luiz was sent off and a Wolves penalty given in a decision that was baffling even by this season’s standards. If they play like they have been, they should have enough to see off Villa.
Villa have won their last two games against Arsenal, scoring four goals without reply in the process. The reverse fixture stook place at the Emirates, when Arsenal were in the crux of their “Crisis Club” period of this season. However, given recent Arsenal performances suggest a change for our Premier League predictions, even withstanding the results from their last two games. Prior to Villa winning the last two meetings, Arsenal had won their last seven in a row against the Villains. If there’s one thing that this fixture has given us constantly, it’s a winner – there’s only been one draw in ten years.
Below, we’ve provided the results from the last five fixtures between Arsenal and Aston Villa as well as three statistical highlights. We’ve analysed this information and more to bring you our Premier League prediction weekend here at BettingTips.net
Having analysed the above information and considering recent performances, our Premier League predictions point to a draw on Saturday.
If you look at the results alone, you could be forgiven for thinking that both of these sides have taken a dip in form, however the performances on the park suggest otherwise. Arsenal were rigid in the 0-0 draw against Manchester United and unlucky with a massive referee decision in the first half against Wolves. Villa on the other hand, were guilty of poor game management against Burnley last week, but showed an overwhelming amount of quality in the first half. Perhaps it’s then no surprise that the Villains are favourites to win at home. We can’t see Arsenal letting that happen and think the two sides will cancel each other out in a hard fought game. Our betting tip is therefore a draw at odds of 3.6 with Bet365.
