A passion for football greatly influenced James while growing up, leading him to make a promise to himself: he would follow “do what you love” advice and ensure that his career was based around football in some way. While playing the sport proved not to be his strong suit, James discovered he possessed a natural talent for writing that led to him covering matches for his school’s newsletters - his first foray into writing about the sport he adores.
After graduating from Durham University with a First Class Degree in Journalism, James spent time interning for a national newspaper before launching his own football blog - at a time when blogs were a relatively new concept. Focusing primarily on tracking rumours and keeping readers as up-to-date as possible, the blog flourished under James’ editorship, and his success eventually caught the eye of BettingTips.net. Having been persuaded to turn his attention to this site, James is now the Football Editor with a special focus on football. His appetite for finding the latest stories, and tracking down the very best value when writing betting tips, remains second to none.
When he’s aware from his laptop, James can usually be found walking his dogs Bonnie and Buzz in the Peak District close to his home. He remains a devoted Manchester United supporter, following a family tradition, and is currently pursuing a football coaching qualification alongside his work at BettingTips.net.

After a late winner in Augsburg last week, and thanks to their visitors 4-0 beating of Schalke, Wolfsburg go into this game sitting in 6th place, just 2 points ahead of the chasing pack. Dortmund are pursuing their first Bundesliga title since they won back-to-back championships under Jürgen Klopp 8 years ago.
The current constitution
Wolfsburg harbour European Hopes
The hosts go into this game sitting in 6th place, meaning they currently hold that second Europa League qualifying spot. Their last gasp win against Augsburg last week means they have now gone 7 games undefeated in the Bundesliga, a run that includes 4 wins and 3 draws. Their home form this season leaves a lot to be desired, however. With just 4 wins there this season, the Volkswagen Arena can hardly claim to be a fortress. They have taken points off of top 4 sides at home this season, having drawn with Leipzig and beaten Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Dortmund chasing title number 8
Only 4 points separate Dortmund from league leaders Bayern, however 3rd placed Mönchengladbach and 4th placed RB Leipzig are just 2 and 3 points behind respectively. Despite the chasing pack being hot on their heels, this Dortmund side seemed only to be looking forward last week as they eased past local rivals Schalke in emphatic fashion to make it 9 wins on the spin in the League. Norwegian wonderkid Erling Haaland was straight back on the scoresheet, meaning he has now scored 10 goals in first 9 games since signing for the Black & Yellows, so we’d back him to score anytime.
Head to Head
This fixture is one that Dortmund have traditionally enjoyed. The Black & Yellows are undefeated in their last 9 against The Wolves, having won 8 of them. You have to go all the way back to a DFB Pokal cup game in 2015 to find the last time Wolfsburg got the better of Dortmund. What’s worse for Wolfsburg is that they haven’t so much as scored against Dortmund since September 2016, when they grabbed a consolation goal in a 5-1 home humbling at the hands of their visitors. If Wolfsburg are to find some comfort from the facts, they do have a slightly better defensive record than Dortmund this season.

Statistical highlights
As they look to have sorted out the defensive frailties that marred their early season, we expect Dortmund to continue their clean sheet record against Wolfsburg this weekend. Erling Haaland seems almost certain to continue his blistering form and get on the scoresheet.

Our Betting Tip for Today
Dortmund look set to shut out their hosts and stride towards a fairly comfortable victory, but will be wary of Wolfsburg’s threat and penchant for shock results.
Dortmund to make it a perfect 10
Unfortunately for the hosts, it looks like Wolfsburg’s pursuit of European football will suffer a setback this weekend as Dortmund seem almost certain to make it 10 Bundesliga victories on the bounce. If a Champions League exit in Paris and a global pandemic couldn’t break their Bundesliga stride, it seems unlikely that Wolfsburg can, with the greatest of respect.
Despite the absence of their captain Marco Reus, who seems to be out for the rest of the season, we’re making 3 sold predictions for Dortmund in this match:
Dortmund will win
Dortmund will keep a clean sheet
Erling Haaland will score
Our betting tip for this week comes courtesy of Paddy power, who’re offering odds of 3.92/1 on Dortmund to win and Erlin Haaland to score first. This bet isn’t available as a single market and so you’ll need to select both bets in your online Paddy Power account and they will combine the odds for you.
