Our SportNation review team was impressed with how much information is displayed right off the bat. Whilst the website is not quite as polished as some of the bigger operators on the market, it appears professional and well laid out, with most of the options easily accessible. The main page has a lot to display and we were instantly struck by just how diverse the sportsbook is – an area in which SportNation ratings are almost universally high.
Design and Usability
The website is well laid out and most of the betting options are easily accessible. Our SportNation review team did find the main page appeared a little cluttered – there are numerous metrics, odds and sporting events displayed as soon as you land on the main page. However, for the most part, this is easy to navigate. The site has a reasonably simple, stripped back aesthetic and an inoffensive colour scheme. As we have noted, it lacks the graphic finesse of some of the bigger operators out there, but this does little to detract from the betting experience.
The main SportNation features are easily accessible via the tabs at the top of the screen. Here you will find the options for sports betting, casino, live casino, virtual sports and promotions. There are sub-menu options for each respective tab. For example, the casino tab will have underneath it options for table games and slots, whilst the sports tab has enhanced odds, ‘pick a pony’ and more.
Registering with SportNation
SportNation has a quick and straightforward sign-up process. Upon landing on the main website, you’ll see an orange ‘Join’ tab in the top right-hand corner of the screen. Clicking on this will start the simple, three-step process. First, you put in all the usual details, name, date of birth and e-mail address. You’ll then be asked to provide your address and create an account username. SportNation conducts automated age verification checks, which usually happen behind the scenes, but new users will occasionally be required to submit documents to confirm their identity. It is therefore very important to make sure you input all data correctly.
SportNation Sportsbook Offer
The SportNation sign-up offer is the platform’s flagship promotion, offering a 50% sports deposit bonus on all new accounts. The offer covers all first-time deposits up to a maximum of £250. This means you can get a matched deposit bonus worth up to £125. You can make a larger deposit and still qualify for the offer, but the bonus amount will be capped at £125. Our review team found this to be a fairly generous offer, although users should be aware there are a few terms and conditions attached to the offer.
In order to withdraw any winnings accrued from bonus funds, players must wager a combined sum of 6x the bonus amount and bets must be made at minimum odds of 1.7. These conditions are fairly standard for deposit bonus offers, but our SportNation review also noted that the maximum contribution to turnover requirements per bet is £100 and multiple bets on the same market do not qualify. In addition, bets over £100 don’t count towards wagering. On the one hand, this can help prevent users from making rash decisions and losing larger amounts, but on the other hand, it does limit options when trying to make up the minimum bet requirement.
SportNation Casino Offers
Whilst the SportsNation sign-up offer is squarely aimed at sports betting fans, the platform also offers plenty of generous promotions to its casino customers. Our SportNation review found several ongoing and seasonal offers, but one of the most popular is the weekly casino tournament. Here users are invited to opt-in to the event that sees them awarded one point for every £1 they turn over on a selected game. If they manage to finish in the top ten when the tournament ends, then they receive a prize. The top tier prizes are usually casino bonuses – including a top prize worth up to £150.
SportNation Horse Racing Offers
Aside from its sportsbook and casino offers, SportNation is also known for its horse racing offer: Pick a Pony. Pick A Pony is a daily offer where punters choose the winner from a head to head battle between two horses running on the day. There are seven pairs chosen and the more you get right the more reward points you accrue to exchange for bonuses – if you get none of them right at all you get £10 cash!
Appearance and usability
Our SportNation review was initially disappointed that the platform does not offer a standalone app – especially as mobile gaming is becoming increasingly popular. However, thanks to its simplistic design, the website transfers extremely well to smaller screens. The site is written in HTML 5, meaning it ports easily to both tablet and mobile-based browsers. There is virtually no loss of function and, save for the change in size, most users will notice very little difference.
Despite the website interface being somewhat busy, a combination of scrolling menus and innovative layout transfer makes the mobile site a pleasure to use.
Making Bets on the mobile site
SportNation have done an excellent job in making the mobile betting experience as seamless as possible. The betting slip remains hidden until you make a bet. However, it remains unobtrusive when continuing to browse the odds and other betting options and a handy ‘return to top’ tab makes it easy to quickly access. Our SportNation review team found that the site was highly responsive and it was easy to add and/or remove bets from the slip without any confusion or having to refresh the page.
Mobile Live Betting
Finally, our SportNation review was impressed with how well the live betting facility transferred to mobile versions of the site. Users will find that every feature available on the desktop site is present when using a phone or tablet.. There are options to change between game feeds and live stats at the touch of a button and any key events will show up as a notification whilst you browse the odds, allowing you to make decisions on the fly and react to events in real-time.
At this stage in our SportNation review, the platform is already shaping up to be a fairly solid provider of sportsbetting – with a highly accessible website and some great promotions. However, this really is just the tip of the iceberg and SportNation has plenty more to offer.
SportNation has a fantastic live casino suite, offering users the chance to experience games like blackjack and roulette with a live dealer. The games are powered by some of the top developers in the industry and offer a new dimension to betting online. Our SportNation review also noted some great promotions aimed at live casino users, so even if you’re more of a sports better, you might enjoy the occasional flutter on one of the wide selection of table games available.
Virtual sports have really come into their own in recent years and our SportNation review was impressed with what the platform had to offer. Of course, virtual sports will never match the excitement of the real thing, but they offer a fantastic opportunity to bet on your favourite sport during the offseason. You’ll find there are virtual events for horseracing, football, tennis, speedway and more.
Funding your SportNation account
Once you’re up and running with a SportNation account, you’ll need to add funds before you can place any bets. Our SportNation review was impressed with the number of options available when it comes to depositing to your e-wallet. The platform supports all the major payment types, including Visa/Mastercard and bank transfers, as you might expect, but there is also the option to use several e-payment methods, including PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, Trustly and Boku.
The minimum deposit for SportNation is just £10 for almost all payment methods. The only exception is PayPal, which requires a minimum of £25. When it comes to withdrawing funds, the minimum for debit or credit cards is £20, with PayPal again being slightly higher at £50. Users should be aware of a couple of things before making a deposit. Firstly, you can’t withdraw via Boku, so if you plan to deposit with this method, you’ll need to add a second payment option to your account. You should also be aware of any deposit offer that you might be eligible for, as these can carry their own minimum/maximum deposit requirements.
The maximum amount for both withdrawals and deposits is set at £20,000 in aggregate over a 24 hour period.
Payment Processing Times
Timely processing of deposits and withdrawals is a major selling point for online bookies and our SportNation review was pleased to find that the platform puts in a fairly good performance in this area. Most deposit methods will see your account credited almost instantaneously – with any delays being on the part of the payment provider rather than SportNation. Withdrawals take 3 – 5 days to reach your account, however, SportNation does advise that it can take up to 48 hours for them to process withdrawal requests.
Professional Customer Service
An important consideration for our SportNation review was the customer support offered by the platform – afterall, even the most experienced sportsbetting fan can require assistance from time to time. In this area, SportNation has a fairly average rating – it’s certainly doesn’t have the best customer service offering on the market, but it is adequate for most users’ requirements. Users have just two options for getting in touch: email and live chat. The live chat function is available from 10am to 10pm, seven days a week and you’ll usually be connected in under a minute. Email is of course much slower, but more appropriate for longer queries. Our SportNation review found that the response time is usually within 48 hours.
Aside from speaking to SportNation customer service directly, the platform also offers a fairly comprehensive FAQ section. Here you will find answers to most queries, conveniently groups in different categories relating to registration, payments, verification and responsible gambling. Our review team found plenty of information here and if you are new to the platform it’s worth making the faq page your first point of reference for any queries you may have.
SportNation VIP and Loyalty Scheme
Most platforms will offer a generous welcome offer to try and entice new members to the platform, but the real top-flight operators will also remember to offer rewards to their loyal customers. Our SportNation review took a closer look at what the platform offered by way of loyalty and VIP schemes and was pleasantly surprised.
SportNation offers a Rewards Plus membership which offers regular users a more tailored experience to enhance their betting experience. Among other things, a Rewards Plus membership offers invitations to special events, bonuses and special offers exclusive for VIPs, a dedicated account manager offering direct messaging via Whatsapp, and faster withdrawal processing times. The membership is offered by invitation, which will usually be made to those who spend over a certain amount on the site and make regular bets. However. SportNation does invite users to email and make a direct request to join.
Is SportNation Trustworthy?
Anyone using a website that involves the transfer of funds will certainly want to know that a site is reliable and secure. In addition to this, betting fans will also want guarantees that the operator they are using is fair and trustworthy. The best way of ascertaining whether a firm is legit or not is by checking out its regulation and licensing details – which should be freely available on the company website.
Fortunately, our SportNation review found the platform has all the necessary credentials. It is fully licensed by the United Kingdom Gambling Commission (UKGC) which means it has satisfied the strict requirements of one of the world’s leading gambling authorities. So, if you have been wondering: ‘is SportNation reliable?’ then this the UKGC regulation should put your mind at ease that the platform is completely above board.
Another way in which SportNation goes to lengths to protect its users is by having a robust kYC verification process in place. This is required under UK gambling law to ensure that everyone using the site is who they say they are and protects users from identity theft. In most instances, the verification happens behind the scenes using sophisticated systems that match details to existing public records. However, there may be occasions when users are required to provide evidence of their ID – usually in the form of a passport or driving licence.
Betting online should always be fun and most users know when to stop. However, to offer further safeguards, our SportNation review was pleased to find that the platform has several responsible gambling protocols in place. Aside from offering plenty of information on how best to manage your betting and stay on top of finances, SportNation also allows users to put limits on their own spending on the site – these can be set daily, weekly or monthly. It’s also possible to ask for a ‘cooling-off’ period, wherein your account will be suspended for an agreed period of time.
A top-flight operator going from strength to strength
Our SportNation review was very impressed with the platform overall and would recommend it for any sports fan looking to try out a new betting platform. The website is well laid out and a pleasure to use, with myriad betting options somehow arranged with minimal clutter. Despite the absence of a dedicated app, the desktop platform ports so easily to mobile devices most users will find they have no issues when gaming on the go.
SportNation Strengths and Weaknesses
SportNation offers a diverse sportsbook with plenty of betting options – enough to rival even the most well-established brands, despite the platform only being launched in 2017. Our SportNation review was also impressed with the range and depth of the promotions on offer – including a welcome bonus, VIP rewards and daily special offers. The promotions were one area in which SportNation really stands out from the competition.
The main weaknesses noted by our SportNation review was the lack of telephone support. Whilst this is increasingly becoming the norm in the industry, it is a feature that many users still appreciate.
All in all, we would recommend SportNation to anyone looking for an exciting new platform, but If you remain unconvinced, you might want to take a look at our other platform guides, including 888Sport review, STSBet review or even the newer, up and coming platform detailed in our bet-at-home review or our 138 review.
