Created in 1999 by two Swedish entrepreneurs, Expekt has grown to become a large European bookmaker with headquarters in Malta. It is now thought that over 1.8 million customers enjoy the sportsbook and casino services offered on this bookie’s site.

First Impression & Registration

A Great First Impression

Our Expekt sportsbook review reveals a bright, cheery website with a sportsbook that is uncluttered. This allows us to find betting markets, casino games and promotions with ease. It was clear that this is a bookmaker that thinks carefully about their website layout and how it will affect their customers. Clicking the sports tab at the top of the page transports us to a screen divided into well-defined sections. To the left are all the sporting options available – 32 different sports in total, and popular bets are displayed in the middle of the screen to save time. The latest promotions are advertised in the only moving section of the website, a large, striking panel to the top of the page. The right-side of the page reiterates these promotions and also houses the betting slip.

An Easy to Use Website

This precise layout of the website made it very easy to navigate. The personal account page also followed this theme. Once registered, you can use your account settings to update your personal information, make deposits and withdrawals and check on the status of any current promotions you are using. This simple layout gave our Expekt ratings a welcome boost.

How to Register at Expekt

Registering on the Expekt site doesn’t take long at all. All you need to do is click the orange ‘register now’ button and fill in your personal details in the online form. At this point you will be able to opt in or out of promotional information, as well as confirming that you are over the age of 18 to legally bet on the website.

After registering, you’ll be prompted to make your first deposit, which you can do via credit or debit card, eWallet or bank transfer. You’ll find a host of online promotions and betting markets to take advantage of should you wish.

The Bonus Offer

Up to 100% Extra with Expekt’s Multi+ Bonus

One of our favourite aspects of our Expekt review was discovering the many bonuses available on Expekt’s site. As this is a sportsbook review we’ll focus on sports bonuses, but rest assured that if you’re a fan of casino content you’ll also find bonuses for slots and table games too. You’ll find a welcome bonus for the casino site, but no corresponding one for the sportsbook. This is a shame, but is compensated for by a number of other sports promotions.

Perhaps the most tempting of these is the Multi+ bonus which is available on accumulator bets of five legs or more. Each of these legs must have odds of 1.20 or higher. Place your wager, and if the bet wins you’ll receive an additional 5%-100% of your winnings back. The more legs you wager on, the bigger the percentage boost.

No Expekt Sign Up Offer Available

While the number of bonuses clearly boosted Expekt ratings, it was a bit of a disappointment to find no sportsbook sign up offer. This is something that pretty much all of the Expekt’s competitors are offering, with bonuses as much as 200% of your initial deposit in some cases. While Expekt can’t compete with this, it is worth noting that the Multi+ bonus mentioned above is a recurring bonus. That means you can gain extra winnings on any accumulator bet of five legs or more time and time again. In the long run, we’re sure that it could become more lucrative than most sign up offers.

There are some caveats to the bonus. Firstly, you can’t use it on every sport. The sports that are accepted are football, basketball, ice hockey and tennis only. You can wager on pre-event or live betting markets, but you can’t use it on draw-no-bet wagers. The bonus winnings are also capped at the UK equivalent of €10,000.

So, is Expekt a good betting site when it comes to bonuses? Aside from the above terms and conditions, we’d certainly like to think so, and our ratings have been adjusted accordingly.

App & Mobile

No Mobile App for Sports

Bookmakers are always investing in new technology to beat off the competition. But, while many have embraced a mobile app to cover their customer’s wagering needs, this has not been the case for Expekt. Don’t get us wrong, they have mobile capabilities yet – when compared to other bookies – the provision at Expekt just can’t compete. You’ll find they have got a mobile app available, but currently this only supports their casino product. As this isn’t an Expekt casino review, we’ll keep details on this brief, but when we tested it, it worked well, although disappointingly, not all the content available via desktop was available via mobile. It still provided a good service though, proving Expekt trustworthy when it came to mobile tech.

Expekt’s Mobile Offering

Without a mobile app for sports, we attempted to load the Expekt site on our mobile. It loaded up quickly ready to go. Not so good though, was how the content was presented. Unlike the casino app, which displayed well on our mobile, the mobile sports site looked bland, and was harder to navigate than the online page. Each live betting sport was listed separately in drop-down menu, which made selecting the right sport on a small touch screen difficult. The cash out option was in the sidebar menu, which again made navigation awkward.

One positive we took away from the mobile site was the availability of website content which seemed almost totally intact. Overall, though, the lack of usability cost Expekt dearly in our overall mobile rating. We hope Expekt eventually creates a sports app, as in-play betting in particular would greatly benefit from the flexibility of betting on the go.

Specials & Extras

A Great Casino for All

While you’re no doubt interested in sports betting, there’s nothing quite like the thrills and spills offered by casino betting. At Expekt, you’ll find a very healthy selection of betting markets, from slot games to roulette, blackjack and poker.

Slot games by far get the biggest section of the casino to themselves. There are over 300 slot games available from reputable gaming providers such as NetEnt and Microgaming, who offer huge progressive jackpots reaching millions of pounds.

But if table games are more your thing, you’ve got an option of playing solo or joining the live casino where you’ll be able to link up via video to real-life dealers for an immersive casino experience. Wagers suit all budgets, from the smallest bettors to high-rollers, so there’s always plenty to entertain.

A Poor Social Media Performance

While Expekt have clearly got their act together when it comes to their website, they leave a lot to be desired with their social media presence. Expekt have their very own UK Facebook and Twitter pages, but these have been unmanned for some time now. It’s no surprise, then, that their Facebook page only has 325 followers.

That’s not to say that Expekt are completely useless when it comes to social media. The Swedish based company have social media pages aimed at other parts of Europe that are a little more successful. We can only hope that they add a little sparkle back to their UK equivalent some time soon.

Payments & Limits

Which Payment Methods does Expekt Use?

One thing Expekt does do well is their flexibility with regards to payment options. The bookmaker has a wealth of payment options available, covering all the bases found at most bookies. You can deposit and withdraw using credit and debit card, of which VISA, VISA Electron, Mastercard, Maestro and EntroPay are available. You can also use the eWallets Neteller and Skrill, use PaySafeCard or transfer funds directly from your bank account using Trustly. Of these options, all of them are instant, with the exception of bank transfer, which can take up to 3-5 days to reach your betting account.

Neteller
Skrill
Paysafecard
Bank Transfer
Instant Transfer

Using Your Payment Method of Choice

It is worth knowing that most of these payment methods can be used free of charge at Expekt, with the exception of credit or debit card. Small deposits of under €100 are subject to a 2% fee by Expekt for processing. This is a real shame, and is not something you will find with UK bookmakers. You may also be charged by your payment provider for depositing or withdrawing funds, so be sure to check with them before using your payment method of choice.

The minimum you can deposit in your account is the sterling equivalent of €10. No maximum deposit is listed on the website.

For withdrawals, you’ll generally want to receive your funds as quickly as possible. Expekt claim to process your transaction within 24 hours of receiving the request. After this, each payment method will take between 3-5 working days to process. Neteller and Skrill payments are thought to be the quickest, with payments received almost instantly after processing. Card withdrawals and bank transfers can take up to 3-5 days, whereas PaySafeCard and Entropay are unavailable for withdrawals.

Support & VIP

A Decent FAQ Available

At Expekt you’ll find plenty of information to help you get started on their site. Click the ‘Contact Us’ link at the bottom of the homepage and you’ll find a solid FAQ which should answer most of your queries. But if not, there are a couple of ways to get in touch with the customer service team.

Firstly, you can email customer support. You can do this by filling in your details on the online form, or alternatively drop a line to their email address. Live chat is also available, although this isn’t 24/7. One of the reassuring things about European bookmaker customer service is that they will have English speaking support staff, making the experience much simpler.

The Expekt VIP Scheme

The Expekt VIP scheme gives players extra bonuses, prioritised payments and their own personal VIP host. VIP members do not ask to be members, they are hand chosen by Expekt themselves. How you are awarded VIP status is kept intentionally vague by the bookmaker, but it is implied that they are selected based on their website usage and loyalty. Priority is also given to those who play on more than one different betting type, so, for example, those who play at the casino and place sports bets. At the top level, VIP customers are also invited to exclusive events such as dinner, drinks and football.

Licenses & Safety

Expekt Licensed in the UK

We take the safety of our readers very seriously, which is why during our reviews we always check a bookmaker’s license to ensure they are a reliable betting site. During our Expekt review we found that they are based in Malta, but their owning company is located in Gibraltar, meaning they have a license from the GB Gambling Commission. The GB Gambling Commission is an executive non-departmental part of the UK government and is responsible for the supervision and regulation of online betting affecting UK customers. As part of these regulations, they ensure that bets are fair and impartial, bookmakers adhere to relevant laws and betting is only available to UK residents aged 18 and above.

For further information on what the license covers, you can type the license number listed at the bottom of Expekt’s website into the GBGC’s database.

Keeping Safe When Betting

We all love a cheeky bet every now and then, but for some it can become too much. If wagering is becoming an essential part of life, or betting is no longer fun, you may need to consider the possibility you’re suffering from problem gambling. As a responsible bookmaker, Expekt has various methods in place to encourage responsible betting. These include providing links to Gamblers Anonymous and an online self-assessment form to assess your risk of developing a gambling issue. You’ll also find a self-help toolkit link from Basis online.

Expekt also encourages their players to set gambling limits so they know exactly how much they’ve spent. These caps can be revised, but takes a minimum of 24 hours to come into effect. Lastly, as a UK player you are entitled to a cooling off period, or can self-exclude from the website at any time by contacting customer service. It’s clear from all these options available, that Expekt takes problem gambling very seriously.

Expekt Sports Betting

Betting Markets

Many Betting Markets Discovered in our Expekt Review

When it came to betting markets, Expekt excelled in our ratings. It’s common to find a bookmaker with a handful of sports available, but you’ve got 32 different sports to choose from here. These aren’t just the basic sports that you’ll find everywhere. Obscure choices such as rally, cross-country skiing and water polo sit alongside larger international markets. Football makes up the majority of the selections, and is bolstered by a range of football bonus offers. You’ll find football wagers on the major European leagues such as the Spanish La Liga, Italy’s Serie A and the German Bundesliga, as well as wider international markets such as the South Korean K-League Challenge.

Adding to the sporting options available are rapidly growing esports markets. Still scarcely seen on many of the larger bookmakers’ sites, esports is a real feather in Expekt’s cap. At Expekt, we found wagers for League of Legends tournaments and CS:GO. While this is a smaller selection of games than is available at other bookies, it is nice that these are included at all.

Have a Colossal Time with Colossus

You’ll find that most of the bet types available at Expekt are similar to those offered elsewhere. You can place single bets, accumulators and combi-bets such as Heinz and Yankee wagers. But unlike many of their competitors, Expekt have a little edge, or should we say a Colossal edge, in the form of their Colossus bet. Colossus is a simple enough wager. You’re given a list of sports and the option of picking three to 10 wagers in your chosen sport. You then have to correctly guess the results of betting markets that are pre-chosen for you. If you get them all right, you win the jackpot, which can be between £1,000 and £30,000 depending on the market. For a comparison of betting markets, you might want to head over to our 12bet review, or our 138.com review.

Betting Odds

Odds Similar to Competitors

Expekt claims that they have the best odds online and, while we can’t say for sure if that’s true, they are certainly competitive when checked against other bookmakers. Much like other bookmakers, though, there is little movement in their odds. Each bookie uses the odds offered on their website to create their profit margin, and they go to great lengths to protect these. That means that you won’t see any wild odds on their site, but you can still consider Expekt trustworthy. One of the things we noticed during our Expekt review was the addition of odds boosts on specific betting markets. These were more common on football markets, and often involved betting on multiple markets in the same football match. Good value can be gleaned if you’re thorough in your search.

The odds are listed on the Expekt website in the decimal format, which is the standard format used in mainland Europe. However, you can change these to fractional odds, which are more commonly seen in the UK. Click a specific sporting market and you have the option to search by lowest or highest odds, date or specific competition too, to quickly find a suitable wager for you.

Limits

Expekt does not provide a thorough outline of the associated limits that have been implemented on the sportsbook platform. As we’ve already stated, the minimum deposit limit is €10 or the equivalent thereof in British pound sterling. Maximum limits are not defined and thus we will not speculate as to the exact amount.

Minimum bets are set at €0.10 or the equivalent thereof in British pound sterling. Max betting limits vary accordingly and one can find the exact limit attached to the chosen bet type or sport.

Live Betting & Streaming

Standard Live Betting Options

When it comes to live betting, Expekt have a small list of sports available for you to bet in-play on. At the time of checking we could see live betting markets covering football, tennis, basketball, baseball and volleyball. While we’re not sure if this is the full scope of in-play markets on offer, it provides us with around 50 different sporting events to choose from.

Accessing live betting markets are simple. Go to the top of the sportsbook page and you’ll find ‘live betting’ listed in the orange header at the top. Click this and you can see which sports markets are available to you. These are organised by sport, and at the bottom of the page you’ll find a list of upcoming in-play markets, too.

Limited Live Streaming

While there is a live streaming terms and conditions page on the Expekt website, we couldn’t find a list of sporting events that are streamed live. To find this information, we searched the internet, which revealed that football and tennis streams have been shown to UK players in the past. To access a live stream you need to have made a wager within the previous 24 hours. By accessing a live stream, you get the benefit of keeping abreast of your bet in near real-time, making cashing out simple.

Product Summary & Conclusion

Our overall conclusion of the Expekt sportsbook finds itself somewhere in the middle. The wide choice of sports to bet on is a ig plus. The inclusion of less popular sports such as cross-country and rally is a nice feather in their cap. Added to which, Expekt has managed to capture the growing interest in esports, and have included a variety of betting markets in this regard.

The downfall of the Expekt sportsbook lies with the below-average live streaming and betting services. In this department, Expekt is lacking somewhat. There’s a very limited number of sports that can be bet on in-play while there’s no clear indication of what their live streaming entails.

All in all, we recommend Expekt to avid esport punters and general enthusiasts of sport. However, don’t expect anything too flashy. This might appeal to traditional punters though.

Expekt Review Conclusion

Expekt Scored 77 out of 100 points in our test

We’ve dotted the i’s and crossed the t’s and all that’s left is to summarise how Expekt did in our review. We awarded them a nice score of 77 out of 100 in our test. While a 77 doesn’t reach the dizzying heights at the top of our review tables, it is still very respectable and fairly reflects this online bookmaker’s strengths and weaknesses. While there were very few aspects that we didn’t like about the bookie’s services, we were disappointed to find no mobile sports app. Overall, though, there were many positives, such as Expekt’s extensive betting market choices and their site security.

Expekt Strengths and Weaknesses

We’ll be honest, the lack of mobile app surprised us. Particularly as it’s something that most bookmakers offer now. Thankfully, though, the majority of the website was strong with no real flaws besides an errant fee for small card transactions. This is an outdated concept that is commonly seen in some areas of Europe, yet is all but eradicated in the UK. These small issues can be easily rectified, and are certainly nothing that would spoil our enjoyment of betting with Expekt.

You see, for such a small bookmaker, Expekt offers great value for money. There are over 30 sports available to bet on. Odds are par for the course, but are complemented by a wealth of sign up bonuses that add extra value. Lastly, in-play betting is also present on the website, adding an extra element to football and other sports bets. Overall, we are very impressed with Expekt, and hope their success continues.
