BoyleSports Review - Our Rating Shows If BoyleSports is Reliable
Last updated & tested: 2020-01-12
BoyleSports Bonus Review
BoyleSports was created in 1989 in County Louth, Ireland and has grown to become the second-largest bookmaker in Ireland. It has 231 high street shops as well as a burgeoning online presence, and a telephone betting service called Fon-A-Bet. The popular bookmaker has a terrific selection of betting markets, which we’ll take a closer look at in our BoyleSports review. These include familiar Irish sports such as Gaelic football, hurling and, of course, Irish horse racing. How do BoyleSports ratings compare to other bookies? Let’s find out.
Strengths and weaknesses of BoyleSports
- A wide range of betting markets
- Good first impression with easily navigated website
- Mobile app available for both Apple and Android devices
- Swift registration available
- A range of customer service options available
- Sub-par sign up bonus
- Questionable website fairness
1. First Impression & Registration 9/10 Pts.
Our First Impression of BoyleSports
The first thing that struck us about the BoyleSports website was its layout, which was uncluttered, and enhanced by the abundance of white used in the colour scheme. Important areas such as the website headers, the cash out and sports drop-down menu were highlighted in royal blue and your bet slip is easily found with a red heading. These colours continue through the bookmaker’s logo, leaving no doubt that you’re at the right place. Once you’ve clicked the ‘Sports’ heading, markets are found on the left-hand side of the page and searched through easily. Promotions are displayed at the top for you to use if you wish. For newcomers, you’ll also find a handy help section link at the top of the page, too.
Our BoyleSports Review Showed a Well-Designed Website
As well as looking good, the usability of the BoyleSports website is great too. It’s clear that when the bookmaker designed their site, they thought about the end user. This was also reflected in BoyleSports customer review sites we found on the web, which all mentioned how easy it was to sign up and deposit on BoyleSports’ site. For those asking ‘Is BoyleSports a good betting site?’, we hope to put your mind at ease. Registering online took us under a minute. Payment methods are also plentiful.
What we liked best though, was the bookmakers’ ‘Useful Links’ section at the bottom of the page. It had links to the help centre and FAQs, information on the various site’s promotions, and a bet calculator which helps you work out the returns on multi-bets such as trixies and Heinz wagers. A nice added extra, unique to BoyleSports.
A Speedy Registration at BoyleSports
Registering at BoyleSports takes less than a minute. Click the green ‘Join Now’ button and fill in the one-page registration form and you’re done. All that’s left after that is to place your first deposit of £10 or more. This triggers the BoyleSports sign up bonus. .
2. The Bonus Offer 8/10 Pts.
An Extensive Range of Betting Markets
When it comes to betting choice, the markets available on BoyleSports are numerous. You’ll find a total of 29 different sports available, which while smaller than some websites out there, does cover a lot of bases. With the bookmaker based in Ireland, it is no surprise that Irish sports have taken the lead on their website. Gaelic hurling and football can be found, as can horse racing from both sides of the Irish sea and beyond. There are also plenty of soccer BoyleSports wagers available.
You’ll find various American sporting choices such as American football and basketball as well as baseball and motorsport too. Less common sporting markets such as handball and volleyball can be found, but it was a shame to find no watersports or esports like we have found at other bookmakers.
Still, the sporting markets are boosted by a choice of unusual political and entertainment bets. Again, Ireland is featured with an Ireland’s Got Talent overall winner wager and betting odds offered on events such as the year and winner of the next General Election.
Types of Bets Available
When it comes to multiple bets and accumulators, bettors at BoyleSports have a distinct advantage in the form of the website’s Bet Calculator which can be found via a link at the bottom of the sportsbook page. This calculator is a great tool to help players work out the potential return for their stake on the myriad of bets available on their site (singles, doubles, trebles, trixies, patents, yankees, lucky 15, lucky 31 and Heinz bets). Many of these are complicated to calculate, so a tool like this is ideal for serious bettors.
With single bets, you can also calculate each way, dead heats and Rule 4 bets (bets where deductions take place on your return after a horse or greyhound is made a non-runner), which takes the mystery out of any potential returns.
3. Betting Markets 6/10 Pts.
Up to £25 in Extra Bets
Next to be scrutinised for our BoyleSports ratings is the BoyleSports bonus offer. Like many, BoyleSports has a welcome offer for brand new players. This deal gives players up to £25 back as additional bets when they make a series of deposits. The first bonus is £5, which is given to you when you make you very first deposit and place a bet of £10 or more.
Further bonuses of 50% of the average of your next three bets are given to you (up to the value of £5). The process can be repeated up to four times for four additional bonuses. The bonus is calculated like this:
If you place three £10 bets, the average across those bets is £10. Bonus funds are paid at 50% of your average, which is £5. If you place two £5 bets and one £10 bet, the average across these is £6.66. You’ll receive half of this as a bonus, so £3.33 as extra funds.
While the bonus gives players up to £25 in bonuses, it’s worth pointing out that you need to spend £130 to receive this back. When compared to other bookmakers’ bonus deals, such as the Betfred bet £10, get £30 back deal, it’s clear that BoyleSports couldn’t compete. As a result, their ratings took a serious hit in our BoyleSports review. What you do have, though, is a bookmaker which prides itself on its trustworthy status and decent betting selection.
Terms and Conditions
The first thing to note is that the qualifying deposits and the bonus funds attached must be wagered on sports bets only. These bets need odds of 1/2 or more to count. You can also place your qualifying bets on multiple bets and accumulators, but again, odds must reach 1/2 or greater.
It’s also worth noting that cashed out bets won’t count towards the wagering requirements, so if you’re looking to clear these as quick as possible, make sure you don’t close bets early. You’ll also want to keep an eye on your bonus funds. Once received, you have seven days to use them before they disappear from your account, so be quick!

Standard Fare with BoyleSports Odds
While we’d like to rave in the BoyleSports sportsbook review about the bookmakers’ odds, it’s suffice to say that they’re par for the course, offering little to differentiate from other bookmakers. With this said, you may find slight variation between some markets, although the difference will likely be minimal. This is a betting’ site that is aimed firmly at recreational gamblers, not professional gamblers. If you are looking for some top notch odds, you should try for one of the few independent bookmakers available in the UK.
Don’t worry though, good value is still to be found at BoyleSports, particularly when it comes to the races. BoyleSports has an odds boost on both horse racing and greyhound racing that sees them give you the best odds between your backed odds and the starting price. As an example, if you back your horse at 3/1, but the horse starts at 5/1, you’ll receive the 5/1 price if your horse wins.
5. BoyleSports App & Mobile 9/10 Pts.
Accessing the BoyleSports Mobile App
Scroll to the bottom of the sportsbook page and you’ll find a link to the BoyleSports mobile app. To download it to your mobile, select your home country from the dropdown menu and type in your mobile phone number. For tablets, there is a link for both the Apple store and the Google Play Store available. BoyleSports points out that mobile app users get special app specific bonuses and also personalised bets just for them. This is a great feature that we wish more bookmakers embraced. All too often, bookmakers’ apps focus on regurgitating the same old features, but by introducing new elements, players are rewarded for using the app on the go.
You also have the option of using a mobile site if you prefer this to an app. Do bear in mind that if you do this, you will not get the app specific content we mentioned above. The mobile website closely mimics the main website, but is less interactive than the app, which some will consider a downside. Still, it has the same features that you’ll find on the main page such as live betting and a wealth of sports bets.
BoyleSports Mobile App Features
As well as app specific bonuses and promotions, we found the app really came into its own when it came to personalised information. The app uses your previous bets to get a feel for what type of wagers you like to place. From this, it can suggest bets on markets it thinks you’ll be interested in, taking intuitive app design to the next level. Throw in sporting results directly to your phone as soon as the events finish and there’s no reason to tie yourself to a laptop when you place a wager.
6. Livebetting & Streaming 8/10 Pts.
What is Live Betting?
No BoyleSports review is complete without examining the exciting world of live betting. These markets free the bettor to choose any point during a sporting event to place a wager. Odds change to reflect the current situation of a sporting event. A team with average odds before a football game, for example, may end up 2-1 down with longer odds against them, allowing a punter to make a bigger profit betting on them winning than if they’d have wagered before the game.
Along with shifting odds comes trust. Bookmakers must update odds in real-time to accurately reflect the state of the sporting event. Punters need to believe a bookmaker will do that. Thankfully, there’s plenty of evidence to prove BoyleSports trustworthy on this front, for example, numerous positive BoyleSports bookmaker review features from customers were found while researching our own review. We’ve also seen first hand the excellent BoyleSports live betting experience, having tested it out ourselves.
Live betting on BoyleSports
BoyleSports live betting options may not be as prominent as some of the big UK bookmakers, but are offered on around 14 popular sports including male and female football tournaments, cricket, basketball, baseball, tennis, golf and ice hockey. Players are also encouraged to wager on live betting markets through promotions, like the new customer welcome offer.
7. Specials & Extras 8/10 Pts.
Plenty of Extras
Sports betting is all well and good, but there are so many bookmakers out there nowadays that to stand out from the pack, an online bookie has to offer something special. In BoyleSports case, they’ve added lots of other betting options for their players. While there is undoubtedly a lot of choice available, it’s fair to say that BoyleSports won’t be setting the world alight with their added extras. They have a casino, lotto, bingo and poker like many other bookies out there. They’ve also got virtual sports, which is probably their most interesting addition.
While many bookmakers offer virtual sports, few offer the choice that BoyleSports offer their players. As well as the usual suspects – football, horse racing and greyhound racing – BoyleSports has virtual cycling and motor racing. Ther horse racing options, too, are more varied than most, offering flat racing, Grand National simulations and national hunt racing. It’s a wider selection than most, but we’re not sure it will be enough to tempt in seasoned gamblers.
You’ll find links to BoyleSports social media channels at the bottom of the page. They’re on Facebook, Twitter and Youtube with each used for a slightly different purpose. BoyleSports’ Twitter page seems very well-manned, with news features added alongside various BoyleSports current promotions. Facebook allows for a very interactive setup where fans of their page can ask questions, answer polls and chat about sporting headlines. Youtube is also used to great effect for sporting previews and interviews with sports stars about upcoming competitions. Overall, we were very impressed with the content BoyleSports provided their fans.
8. Payment & Limits 8/10 Pts.
If you’re interested in betting at BoyleSports, you’ll need to know how you can make a deposit. Players using the website have a few different options available to them. Firstly there’s credit and debit card, which must be registered to the BoyleSports account holder. UK players are fine to use this method, but some countries are part of a restricted list which is available on the bookmakers’ website. PaySafeCard and EUTeller can also be used.
You can also make a deposit using a bank transfer or cheque. Both of these take around three to five days to clear. If you send a cheque by post, you must include your BoyleSports username and your account number to make the deposit. Irish residents have an added option of calling into any BoyleSports bookmaker to make a deposit, too.
Lastly, you can link up to your Neteller, PayPal or Skrill account to make a deposit. BoyleSports has a list of deposit and withdrawal caps in the help section.
Limits, fees and withdrawal times.
Before you can make a withdrawal, you’ll need to verify your account by sending personal identification documents to BoyleSports. Without this, you won’t be able to remove any funds, so we recommend doing this as soon as you register online. Is BoyleSports trustworthy? This verification process certainly suggests so.
BoyleSports tries their best to return funds to the payment method you used to make your deposit to protect them and you against money laundering. A withdrawal is usually processed within 24 hours, although you can reverse the withdrawal within this time frame. One you have a BoyleSports withdrawal in process you cannot stop the funds returning to you. Most funds will be returned to you within three to five working days after the withdrawal has been processed. No fees are charged by BoyleSports for withdrawals.
9. BoyleSports Support & VIP 6/10 Pts.
BoyleSports Customer Support
BoyleSports’ customer service is available in several ways. Firstly, you can contact them via telephone using their freephone number. You can also log a support ticket by clicking the ‘Contact Us’ link at the bottom of the sportsbook page. You can get in touch via email, and also via live chat. You’ll also find a generous FAQ section on their website which will help you should you have any basic queries. But, and this is a big but, the jury is out on the quality of their customer service.
The first thing to note is that in the course of our bookmaker reviews, we check online to see what other customers have said about the bookie in question. In the case of BoyleSports, their customer service team has a considerable amount of negative comments about them. While we cannot check the legitimacy of the comments for ourselves, it’s important to note that they exist so you can make your own mind up about the bookmaker.

Does BoyleSport Have a VIP Section?
While BoyleSports does run a VIP scheme, this is aimed solely at casino and poker players. While there are very few details given about their VIP scheme, players can expect to have awards of up to £1,000 depending on their loyalty level. Players are personally invited via email and can choose to opt in if they wish. Any other information about the scheme is shrouded in secrecy, we’re afraid.
10. Licenses & Safety 7/10 Pts.
Is BoyleSports Reliable?
We were torn when writing this part of our BoyleSports review. One one hand, the bookmaker holds a UK Gambling Commission license, which offers a level of security to UK players and is considered a welcome and reassuring presence on any bookmakers’ website. On the other hand, however, we’ve seen quite a few customer complaints citing unfair business practices and suggestions that players’ accounts are restricted if they come out with a profit. Other customer feedback conflicts with these suggestions, stating they enjoy the website and cite no issues.
What we do know, is that BoyleSports is one of the leading bookmakers in Ireland. They are the second largest bookmaker in the country with a wealth of high street shops and a telephone betting service. They are also the sponsor of various sporting events and teams throughout the world. It is also worth noting that many of the complaints were from over a year ago, so it may suggest that if there were issues with the website, they may have now been resolved.
BoyleSports Safe Gambling Help
BoyleSports list a number of options available to their players to help protect against problem gambling. The first of these is to contact BoyleSports themselves, who will be able to offer help and advice to anyone who feels their betting is becoming troublesome. The bookmaker has also added a questionnaire on their website as a checklist for players who are feeling the strain. Deposit limits, time outs and self-exclusion can all be used as tools by bettors to limit the amount of money and time spent on placing bets. Finally, those struggling can also find advice from a number of charities and organisations listed on the BoyleSports ‘Be Responsible’ page. All advice given from these organisations is confidential and from staff members trained to help in this situation.
BoyleSports Conclusion /100 Pts.
BoyleSports Scored 76 Out of 100 Points in Our Test
When it came to summing up the bookmaker, we decided it was an average choice, neither pushing the bar or falling far short in any particular aspect of its service. Problem gambling help was good, as was the betting selections available on the website. It was only the BoyleSports app that rose above what we’d consider average service, and this was in part down to their additional mobile promotions that struck a chord with our need for more value. These are inviting for customers, and bolstered by the easy to use design of the app. Overall, though, most of our ratings were average and we found nothing to set our world alight. For that reason BoyleSports scored a reasonably good 76 out of 100 points in our bookmaker review. Not the greatest, but not bad either.
BoyleSports Strengths and Weaknesses
As mentioned above, BoyleSports app is really great, and props also have to go to their virtual sports markets that have more selections than we have seen anywhere else, particularly when it comes to racing.
There are, however, a couple of weaknesses on their website, namely the reports of poor customer service and suggestions that the site is less than reliable. While we didn’t have any issues when we used the website, it is always worth researching more thoroughly before you sign up with a bookie to ensure any bonus and deposited funds you have are placed in the right hands.
