Betway Review Our Rating Shows If Betway is Reliable
Betway was formed in 2006 and is part of the Betway Group based in Malta and Guernsey. They hold licences in Germany, Malta, the UK, Ireland, Denmark, Spain, Nigeria, Italy and Belgium.
Those asking, ‘Is Betway reliable?’ will be relieved to hear the business is a member of the European Sports Security Association and is monitored by eCogra to ensure betting is impartial. We’ll discuss site security and other bookmaker strengths and weaknesses later on in our Betway review.
Betway Pro and Con
- A mobile app suitable for Android and iPhone users
- Huge deposit bonuses on casino and sports.
- An easy to use website layout makes playing simple.
- A wide choice of betting markets available for UK players
- Licensed in several countries for peace of mind
- A small number of deposit methods when compared to other bookmakers.
We were bowled over by Betway’s home page
As part of our Betway sportsbook review we registered with the bookmaker to see how the site operated for the average player. Those asking the question ‘is Betway a good betting site?’ can rest assured that their home page and the process of placing a deposit was simple and quick.
This easily navigated site scored well in our Betway ratings
A quick glance at the home page was a little daunting. There’s a lot of information on the site, but thanks to the black, white and green colour scheme one item was easily discerned from the rest.
The Betfair review: How was registration?
Registration took less than a minute on the Betway website. We clicked the bright green ‘register’ button and typed in our personal details. After that an email confirmation was sent to us and we could add a deposit immediately. We’ve never known such a smooth process.
Get 100% extra with the latest Betway sign up bonus
Next up in our Betway review 2017 & 2018 is the Betway welcome bonus, and boy have we got a deal for you! The bonus is awarded to new players who deposit £10 or more, receiving a tidy 100% back as bonus funds. That’s £20 to play with if you deposit £10 all the way up to £30 extra for the maximum bonus. While this isn’t the most generous bonus available out there it’s a good start for newcomers to online gambling thanks to its simplicity.
Sadly we don’t have time to write a full Betway bonus review, here’s an overview of what you need to do to claim the promotion.
100% up to 250€
100% up to 150€
100% up to 100€
100% up to 30£
A simple Betway welcome bonus with few terms and conditions
So we know that the Betway bonus is a 100% matched bonus, but what does that mean to you? Well, what it means is however small your budget you can double it! The maximum you can match is £30, doubling to £60 for new sign ups. You won’t receive your bonus until you make wagers to the value of your initial deposit, so if you deposit £20 you’ll need to wager £20 to get your bonus. You can only make your deposit using credit or debit card or a betway paypal account, something which should be noted.
Your qualifying bet(s) must also be spent on specific odds. If placed in single bets the odds must be 1.75 or higher. For each way the place part of the bet must be wagered on 1.40 odds or above. For system bets all selections must be on odds of 1.40 or higher, too.
Once the qualifying bet has settled your bonus funds will reach your account and you’ll have seven days to spend them on odds similar to those above. We’ve checked out plenty of Betway casino reviews to see what others think of the bonus. They’re in agreement with us. This is a pretty sweet deal!
Separate apps for casino and sports
Finding the app wasn’t the easiest, but it turns out Betway has two Betway apps for Android and iPhone. One is for the casino, with links available on the casino website to download the app. For the sports app we needed to search the Google Play Store to download. This is a shame as we’ve found Betway trustworthy when it comes to providing gaming information.
The app itself is a smaller, but equally attractive version of the website. The colour scheme is similar but with grey used instead of black to lighten up the display. The side scroll option is also introduced to select between different sports which is a nice touch.
Lots of bonuses on an easy to use app
App content is similar to the online page with live betting and a full range of sports available. Live streaming is also available if you place wagers on qualifying bets.
You’ll find the same bonuses that you’d find on the website by clicking ‘promotions’ in the left hand menu. These are separated into sections: a bonus section for sports, one for casino and one for Vegas options. In Vegas and Casino you’ll find promotions giving out 2x and 4x Plus Points on the slot and game of the week and a leaderboard game where you can win up to £2,900.
The sportsbook bonuses cover money back on boxing, a £5 bonus after wagering on a BetYourWay special event and wagering bonuses on horse racing, darts and rugby union. Sadly there are no mobile specific bonuses. If there were we’d be giving the mobile app 10 out of 10.
What else is in store at Betway?
When we realised we had to write about specials and extras in this Betway review we weren’t really sure where to start. As well as offering sports betting and live betting, the casino also accepts poker bets and embraces esports. In the end we plumped for talking about their great casino.
You see, when you sign up with Betway casino you’re given one heck of a welcome bonus. The bonus comes in three parts. The first part is a 100% match bonus up to £250, the second is a 25% match bonus up to £250 and the third is a 50% match bonus up to £500. That’s a potential £1000 in bonuses.
So what can you spend the bonuses on? As well as having a live casino games covering Dream Catcher, baccarat, blackjack, roulette and poker variants, there’s also a healthy slot selection, too.
Alongside the newcomer slots of Six Acrobats and The Heat is On are progressive slots with huge jackpots. Our personal fave is Mega Moolah which saw Betway hit the Guiness Book of Records after handing out the largest online slot win ever – a whopping £13,213,838.68!
How about socialising with Betway?
Betway have a presence on Facebook and Twitter. You’ll find accounts for their esports and main betting site. More importantly you can also contact Betway support on there too. While posting isn’t as regular as we would like, they do encourage Direct Messages to solve your queries.
What payment methods are accepted at Betway?
Here’s our deposit and Betway withdrawal review section. Does Betway have what it takes to compare to other bookmakers n the business? Well, not quite. While Betway offers plenty of payment choice if you’re based in the UK, offering credit and debit card payments, PayPal and Neteller, it doesn’t compare to the likes of Betfair. They allow you to deposit using cards, Neteller, Skrill, Paysafecard and Bank transfer. Other bookmakers also offer payment by Bitcoin too for anonymity and added security.
Betway limits, feels and withdrawal times
The minimum you can deposit with Betway is £10. Betway state there is no maximum deposit amount using credit or debit card. There is also no maximum deposit amount when using PayPal or Neteller from Betway. You’ll need to check with these e-wallets to see if there are any payment restrictions from them.
Withdrawals are also set at a minimum of £10 regardless of payment method. While this is a low amount, sadly so is your maximum weekly withdrawal. Log in to remove funds from your account and you’ll find your maximum weekly withdrawal is capped at £4,000. We think this is a pretty tidy sum, but would become restrictive if you were lucky enough to win large sums like the Mega Moolah player we mentioned earlier!
Withdrawal times at Betway are reasonable and in line with those found elsewhere. The quickest withdrawal method by far is Neteller or PayPal. E-wallets such as these can be processed within 24 hours, but 72 hours is more likely.
When it comes to withdrawing with credit and debit cards expect your funds to hit your account within three to five business days. All payments are processed after a 72 hour cooling off period added by Betway.
The customer is always right at Betway
You can contact Betway customer support in a number of ways. If you’ve got any Betway complaints or queries and would like to speak in person, Betway have an open phone line 24/7. Otherwise, the site offers support via email for less urgent queries or to send documentation. Just email [email protected] and a customer advisor will get back to you asap. You could also contact customer service via live chat, which like the phone lines are manned 24/7.
If you’d rather help yourself there is a detailed FAQ section which can be found by clicking the ‘Contact us’ tab at the bottom of the home page.
- Name of company: Betway Limited
- CEO: Richard Akitt
- Address: 9 Empire Street, Gzira, GZR 1300, Malta

- Phone number: 0808 238 9841
Lots of betting plus more at Betway
On the hunt for a Betway loyalty scheme? Every time you place a bet on Betway you’ll be given Tier Tokens and Plus Points. Plus Points can be redeemed for bingo or casino bonuses whereas Tier Tokens improve your ranking in the Betway tiers to get bigger bonuses. The higher the tier you’re on, the more Plus Points you get, so it rewards those that bet often. It’s worth noting that you can’t spend any Plus Points until you hit the 5000 point margin which is a shame. If you’re planning on placing wagers with Betway anyway this shouldn’t be an issue.
Multiple licenses for UK and International players
Betway is licensed for UK players by the UK Gambling Commission and in Ireland by the Office of the Revenue Commissioners. This means residents of these countries can use all of the bookmaker’s features and services. They also hold licenses in Belgium, Denmark, Italy and Spain and are regulated by the Malta Gaming Authority in all other countries. With such a large number of licenses attributed to the bookmaker you can be sure that they’re regulated and the games offered are fair and impartial.
Lots of useful information for safe gambling
Gambling from the comfort of your own home can be a fun and rewarding pastime. While it’s always important to keep to a budget, Betway also offers advice for those who struggle to maintain safe gambling practices online.
Scroll to the bottom of the Betway home page and you’ll find a link to Be Gamble Aware, which offers advice and positive methods to protect against problem gambling. You’ll also find lots of self-help information to help you take control of your gambling. One of these features allows you to set your own betting limits to stop you from overspending. There is also the option of contacting customer service to take a break from your account or delete your account if you’d prefer. Lastly, you can set reminders on your gambling session to tell you how long you’ve been wagering.
Betway Sports Betting
An international affair at Betway
Sports betting markets at Betway are varied, covering a whole host of sports and countries. Take horse racing for example. Betway are not only content to offer UK and Irish horse racing, giving the best odds in the business in the process, but they also allow players to bet on races from India, South Africa, the USA, France, Dubai and Australia too.
There are 32 sports and novelty bets offered on Betway’s website. Football, tennis and boxing sit happily alongside politics betting, handball and bets on the Great British Bake Off. There are also special bets on Betway Boosts where odds are increased for specific competitions. With such a wide selection of bets it’s no wonder that the bookmaker scored so highly in our betting market Betway ratings.
What betting options are available at Betway?
Amongst the various betting markets are a series of different bets to suit your individual tastes. Single bets are the most common, with each way bets also available on horse racing to bet on a horse finishing in the top few. You’ll also find a series of accumulators and system bets on wagers with 3 or more legs.
Sports with seasons, for example baseball or football offer bets on individual events and outright winners of their league. In baseball this equates to wagers on the American League Central winner, the American League West winner, American League East winner, the National Leagues and the World Series winners.
We also examined live play during our Betway review and were pleased to see a multitude of markets. With live esports tournaments you can bet on individual winners of each match, the overall winner and how many points the winning team finishes with. In many ways this is similar to football where you can bet on goal scoring markets too.
Are the odds in your favour at Betway?
Ever wondered if you’re getting the best betting deal? Then check out the odds to see if a bet is good value or not. One way of checking odds is to consult an online odds comparison site. With Betway you won’t need to do that.
The bookmaker offers odds on horse racing under their ‘best odds guaranteed’ mantra. Usually when you place a bet odds are fixed. But with ‘best odds guaranteed’ if the odds drifts out before the race starts you’ll be given the starting price. If the horse wins, you’ll get a bigger return.
We compared odds offered at Betway against other bookmakers and found Betway trustworthy. Betway offer Betway Boosts on set markets which increase the odds offered to you when wagering.
As a comparison we checked out the Betway Boost on Darts. Boosts are usually accumulator bets. In this case, it was for Van Gerwen, Cross and Wright to win their relevant matches. Odds at Ladbrokes on the accumulator were calculated at 2.74/1, whereas Betway had been boosted to 4-1. One £10 wager would return £37.40 from Ladbrokes and £50 from Betway including your stake. That’s quite a difference!
In-play betting is thriving at Betway
You’ll find Betway live betting under the ‘in play’ heading near the top of the page. The centre of the screen is used to toggle between in-play bets and upcoming bets, making sure you never miss an update.
During our Betway review we found 16 sports in the live betting section. While it’s impossible to say if this is the usual number of sports offered, it’s bigger than bookie rivals Betvictor who only offer five. Don’t forget that you can use most Betway promotions on the in-play bets, so be sure to check out the promotions page before any wagers are finalised.
What is streamed at Betway?
Sure, it’s great to be able to watch football on your TV, but this is not always possible. That’s when live streaming comes into its own. With Betway you’ll be able to watch all the exciting action from a range of sports if you’re based in the UK, Ireland or Sweden.
Streamed events have a TV icon next to them. Sports currently covered are tennis, football, horse racing, snooker, esports and more. While the number of streams is smaller than some sites, the quality is high.
Betway scored well in our bookmaker test
Betway scored exceptional in our bookmaker test scores, proving once and for all that they are a quality bookmaker that’s going places. If we took anything away from the review it was that the bookmaker offers incredible value for its European players. It scored consistently well across the majority of the board, only falling short on the number of payment options available. Withdrawal limits were also set a little low, but this will only affect very high rollers.
Betway Strengths and Weaknesses
We were overawed by Betway’s live sports selection. At the time of testing we found 16 different sports offered and live streaming added an extra special element. All of your favourite betting selections were available live including football bets, tennis and golf. You can even bet on e-sports live which is something not offered by many of Betway’s competition.
We were also impressed with the number of bonuses on the website which catered to casino, sports and Vegas players equally. Of particular note was the casino sign up bonus which gave newcomers the chance to add an extra £1000 to their kitty. It’s clear that whoever is in charge of the website’s promotional offers knows what they’re doing.
So what’s our final verdict on Betway? They thoroughly deserve the high rating they’ve been given. With just minor quibbles this is one of the most developed bookmaker websites we’ve seen in years. Hopefully they’ll continue to grow and develop in the future.
